The story (3 of 3)

peace within
3-3

The soldier kept the man alive the best way he could, hoping for a rescue. When they were both found unconscious near dead. The prisoner was sent back to his country and the soldier was decorated for outstanding service.

All the medals and honours the soldier had received could not make him happy. He believed that he had failed in the mission he assigned himself; keeping the prisoner alive. This meeting brought peace and closure to this aging veteran.

The man realised that the person that needed forgiveness the most was himself. He had so quickly forgotten to hope. And the man he hated the most, had saved his life. From then on, the man travelled far and wide, to tell his story to the world.

Now back to me… The child, the ice cream, the river of tears… You see, even when life looks bleak, good is still happening to you. So judge not. I say let them have the ice cream. The next one will be tastier, even better. I can’t wait!

[note:] What do you think? Should there be another lesson too? What other lesson do you seen in the story?

The story (2 of 3)

2-3

This man has suffered so much, that he only had the strength to hate one soldier. This enemy soldier, who seemed to have no humanity left. He would come and push the most disgusting insects into the man’s mouth.

The man survived and sought to understand the reason and meaning of his ordeal. Was it to learn forgiveness? Maybe it was. So the man learned to forgive. He sought every one that harmed him. He met many and forgave many. He met all but the soldier that fed him the insects.

As the man expected, the soldier would be the hardest to forgive. It was time to meet. As soon as he saw the face the soldier, now wrinkled and old, memories rushed back to his mind. He had tried so hard to forget. The soldier could hardly recognise the man. He was now healthy and looked a lot better. The man identified himself. As soon as the soldier recognised the man, he hugged him with the strongest and warmest hug the man had ever received.

That day, the man heard words that taught him the final lesson. You see, the soldier, trained in survival skill, had vowed to himself to stay at the abandoned prison and keep the prisoner alive. The soldier survived on nothing else but roots and insects.

A child is sitting minding his own business. A good person comes along and gives the child the tastiest ice cream in the world. The child licks once, twice... oh, so delicious, feeling every taste, ... It`s the best ice cream in the universe.

Something happens, the ice cream is taken away just before the third lick. The child frowns. The child`s mouth opens. The child cries the loudest cry and deepest cry ever. The child`s tears are flowing faster and soon there`s nothing but a river of sadness. Even the best swimmer will not try, lest he downs in sorrow too.

I`m that child; only the river of tears is in my heart. Why? Why do they take the ice cream way. I loved that ice cream!

This reminds of a story that`s longer than I`ll tell. A man was wrongfully arrested during the war, believed to be a spy. After years of war, after years of torture, the man was left alone to die in a rotten jail.

So frail, he sat motionless, in the same position, second after second, minute after minute, year after year. His body was almost dead, yet his mind could experience every moment of this cruel existence.

Miracles in Brussels

Belgium, Brussels: A place of miracles

As I entered and took a few shots, I saw a woman in need of deliverance from an intoxicating liquid. A glass now then is enjoyable, but walking around with a bottle or two, is a bit too much.

As she prayed to regained her freedom, a miracle happened; The bottle cracked and her foe dripped out. Of course leaving behind a smell not fit for a place of worship.

As she left carrying her beverage, the remaining drops left a trail of evidence, that miracles happen.
